Luzia, 2019
Luzia consists of a sculptural geometric solid built in the field together with a village craftsman in an open space, dialoguing with the local landscape. It is a kind of shelter-body, formed by irregular gray granite stones that I collected in the stone quarries around Pueblo Garzón. It is also a type of local construction, and in which resin eyes produced by a sculptor of religious images were incrusted. The encrusted resin eyes in Luzia indicate the presence of a resistant body covered in stones and, at the same time, hidden in them, as also a kind of beacon, lights at the end of the tunnel, the vision of a field as from a field of vision. It is as if the work discusses the original idea of visibility, of an exhibition.
